YUSAN Needs You!
Two of YUSAN's Founding Executives — Susan McCall and Julie Tome — are moving on, effective immediately, and YUSAN is looking for volunteers to take over primary leadership of YUSAN!
If you or someone you know has a science degree from York University (e.g. BSc. and/or MSc. and/or PhD.), or know that you will be graduating imminently and would like to get involved in a volunteer leadership role, YUSAN would like to hear from you.
The purpose of the York University Science Alumni Network (YUSAN) is to bring York University graduates with degrees in science and science-related fields together to connect, network, remove the barriers of distance, and to enhance the profile of York University’s Faculty of Science. Some of our past activities are described in a recent article.
YUSAN has been an amazing opportunity to get together, share experiences, both between recent alumni and some long graduated from decades ago, as well as current undergraduate and graduate students. For current and new graduates networking and communication is one the major keys toward career and personal success and YUSAN has helped with that. You can make YUSAN your own by putting as much or as little time into it as you have.
For more information or to volunteer, please contact Sonia Sheechoria, BHRM'15, who can describe the administrative requirements of the position.

It would be an amazing opportunity to get together more often and share our experiences either as a an alumni or a student in all science majors. Networking and communication is one the major keys toward career and personal success. That's why we decided to start a series of informal and friendly gatherings. Feel free to invite anyone from your friends and enjoy the time of being together!!! By the way, everyone pays for his/her own food or beverage.

Thanks to All for making YUSAN's 2016 Annual Networking Meeting a Great Success!
Saturday September 24, 2016
Thanks to all who attended YUSAN's second annual buffet dinner networking meeting, held at, and graciously sponsored by Bethune College, on Sept 24, 2016! Over 25 people attended and after Julie Tome's excellent presentation about the exciting OSIRIS-Rex Asteroid Retrieval mission, we networked, formed friendships and had a great time which continued even two hours after the official meeting time ended! YUSAN is slowly gathering momentum and we're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. If you'd like to get involved, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
YUSAN is off to a Great Start!
The York U Science Alumni (YUSAN) was formed in 2015 in part to celebrate 50 years of science at York University. YUSAN sincerely thanks Bethune College and York U Community & Alumni Relations for their generousity and support for our Inaugural Dinner Meeting held on November 17, 2015 (see photos). Fifty one people gathered in the Paul Delaney Lounge at Bethune College, enjoyed a great meal, and had a fun and productive networking experience with alumni from fields as diverse as Biology, Kinesiology, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Geography, Earth Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Space Science, Math, Statistics, Space Engineering and Commerce. The Dean of Science, Professor Ray Jayawardhana, and the Master of Bethune College, Professor John Amanatides, shared their ideas for how the Science Alumni can interact with York U. We received valuable feedback from the Alumni for future meetings, and closed the meeting with a free raffle of science-related items, and further networking. Prior to the end of 2015 YUSAN's Linkedin account ("Science Alumni Network (York University)") will include some Quick Tips which will attempt to address one of the main suggestions we received: how to link science jobs for science graduates with employers. Please stay tuned for another exciting YUSAN meeting in 2016! If you would like to volunteer and/or join our mailing list for notificaion of future meetings please email email@example.com.
