Nominations

Please nominate worthy candidates for the following awards/prizes/scholarships: Outstanding Contribution to College Life, Outstanding Contribution from a First Year Student, Master's Honour Roll, Academic Leadership and Community Building Scholarship, Dr. Wendell McLeod Award. Deadline Friday March 17 4 pm.

Graduation Awards

Master's Prize for Academic Excellence
This annual award of $250.00 and a certificate will be given to the graduating student in Norman Bethune College in any Honours programme who achieves the highest grades in that final year of full-time study.

Norman Bethune College Academic Leadership and Community Building Scholarship
The candidate must have served 2-3 years of academic student service with outstanding leadership qualities including constantly leading by example. The individual should consistently create new programs or important initiatives and dedicate an extensive time commitment to them. They must have gained knowledge about the working of the student organization/club and have the ability to train new members. They must also provide positive community support and be a patient leader who facilitates learning by betting up new initiatives and ensuring their enforcement. They should be advocates of building community spirit and on the whole contribute to making a difference. The $100 scholarships will only granted if a suitable candidate exists with a minimum CGPA of 7.5

Norman Bethune College Academic Community Building Scholarship
Candidate must have at least one year of outstanding service and be committed to peer advising and academic community building. The individual should follow through and perform beyond reasonable expectation as well as taking responsibility and being proactive. They should also be involved in 'behind the scenes' endeavors. These $50 scholarships are only granted if a suitable candidate exists with a minimum CGPA of 7.5.

Dr. Emily Stowe Award
This annual award of $250.00 is made to the graduating Norman Bethune Residence female student in any Honours programme who achieves the highest grades in that final year of full-time study. (Must be living in Bethune Residence.)

Dr. Wendell MacLeod Award
This annual award of $250.00 will be given to a graduating Norman Bethune Residence student in any Honours programme who has demonstrated most commitment to internationalist or to community leadership or to health and society concerns.  (Must be living in Bethune Residence.)

Continuing Awards

Norman Bethune Prize for Outstanding Contribution to College Life
This annual award of $200 and a certificate of recognition will normally be given to the one or at most two students who have made outstanding contributions to the College's community life (social, political, educational, athletic, etc.) over the last year or over a period of years.

Norman Bethune Prize for Outstanding Contribution from a First Year Student
This annual award of $100 and a certificate of recognition will normally be given to the one or at most two students who have made outstanding contributions to the College's community life (social, political, educational, athletic, etc.) during their first year at York University.

Master's Honour Roll
This annual award of a gift voucher and a certificate of recognition will be given to students who have made significant contributions to the College's community life (social, political, educational, athletic, etc.) over the past year.

BCC Student Bursary

You must apply through Student Financial Services and be eligible for this bursary.  Those who are involved in the college have higher priority.

Entrance Awards

Norman Bethune College Lexicon Award
The fund, founded by the undergraduate students of Norman Bethune College and supported by its members, will make an annual award of up to $1,000 available to a student entering the first year of full-time undergraduate study at York University regardless of their intended field of study. Criteria: candidates must have a demonstrated record of involvement with their high school or other community service, and will be assessed on the basis of potential community involvement at Norman Bethune College (e.g. with science clubs, etc.). Graduate Student Awards

Manulife Financial International Graduate Scholarship at Norman Bethune College
Incoming and/or continuing graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in a Science or Engineering program, and who are graduates of one of York University's partner institutions in China, are eligible for this award.

The graduate program nominates students for this award.

Junior Fellows can make use of all of Bethune College's facilities , attend its student events, and are invited to all Fellows Dinners.
