Class Representative Recruitment

Bethune College is recruiting Class Representatives for Winter and Year courses.

Class Representative (CR) Program

This program is designed to strengthen the ties between students and course directors/instructors, to help students get more engaged and to help students perform better in their courses.

If you are in a first or second year course within the Faculty of Science or Lassonde School of Engineering (except for Physics and Natural Sciences) please consider applying.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Meet with the course director/instructor on a need-to basis to discuss feedback received from classmates.
  • Organize study groups; coordinate timings with Peer Tutors and book study rooms as necessary
  • Keep accurate records of study group attendance and other interactions; write a reflective summary of duties performed at the end of the semester.
  • Make class announcements regarding any events/workshops/seminars organized by Bethune College.
  • Attend biweekly meetings with fellow CRs and the CR Program Coordinator.
  • Assist with the recruitment of new Peer Leaders (New CRs especially)
  • NOTE: If CRs miss two meetings, they will have to attend a Time Management Workshop. If CRs miss three meetings, they will forfeit their roles

Mandatory Training and Events

  • Basic Peer Leadership Training → 9 am - 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 20th.
  • CR Training →  immediately following BPL; 3:30 pm – 5 pm on Sunday, January 20th.
  • Attend the SOS Retreat (full day; 9 am - 5pm) in late April/early May
  • NOTE: Failure to attend the mandatory training sessions may disqualify the candidate.

How to Apply

Deadline to apply is Sunday, January 13th, 2019 at 8:00 pm. 

You will need to provide your RESUME and a Personal Statement outlining why you want to be a CR.  Save both documents into one PDF file and title it with your FULL NAME – DATE

(E.g. MARY JAMES – January 13_2019).

NOTE: Candidates will be notified of their application status by the evening of Thursday, January 17th. If keeping your schedule open for training on January 20th will be difficult please let us know, you will have an opportunity to do so in the application form linked below.
